Borussia Dortmund beat Real Madrid 4-1 in the Champions League final
DORTMUND, Germany (AP) Borussia Dortmund drew strength from a moment of adversity and romped to a convincing 4-1 victory over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday.
Dortmund, which lost to Bayern Munich in last year's final, took the lead in the 17th minute when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored on a breakaway. Ousmane Dembele made it 2-0 in the 29th minute with a low shot from the edge of the area.
Gareth Bale pulled one back for Real Madrid in the 54th minute, but Dortmund restored its two-goal lead in the 60th minute when Marco Reus scored on a penalty kick. Raphael Varane scored an own goal in the 88th minute to seal the victory for Dortmund.
The victory was Dortmund's first Champions League title since 1997.
