Jacksonville Jaguars Offensive Guard Passed Away Friday

Uche Nwaneri, a former offensive guard for the Jacksonville Jaguars, has died at the age of 38, the team confirmed Monday. According to the Lafayette Journal-Courier, Nwaneri collapsed at his wife's house in West Lafayette, Indiana, on Friday and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Nwaneri played for the Jaguars for seven seasons from 2007 to 2013, starting in 80 games during that span. He was a key member of the team's offensive line during its resurgence under head coach Jack Del Rio, helping the Jaguars to two AFC Championship Game appearances.

After leaving the Jaguars, Nwaneri briefly played for the Minnesota Vikings in 2014 before retiring from the NFL. He had been working as an offensive line coach at Purdue University since 2019.
