Sparks Edge Storm in Thrilling Overtime Battle

Los Angeles Wins 87-84 in First Matchup of Season

Breanna Stewart's 30 Points Not Enough to Overcome Sparks' Balanced Attack

In a highly anticipated matchup between two of the WNBA's top teams, the Los Angeles Sparks emerged victorious over the Seattle Storm on Tuesday night, winning 87-84 in overtime. The game was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to gain a significant lead throughout regulation.

The Sparks were led by a balanced scoring attack, with four players reaching double figures. Nneka Ogwumike led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Kristi Toliver added 17 points and dished out 6 assists. Chiney Ogwumike also contributed 16 points, and Brittney Sykes came up with several key plays down the stretch, including a game-tying three-pointer with just seconds remaining in regulation.

The Storm were led by Breanna Stewart's 30 points, but she received little support from her teammates. Natasha Howard added 14 points, but no other Storm player reached double figures. The Storm also struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 25% from three-point range.

The game went into overtime after the teams were tied at 77 at the end of regulation. The Sparks took control in the extra period, outscoring the Storm 10-7. Toliver hit a key three-pointer to give the Sparks a five-point lead, and the Storm were unable to recover.

The win is a big one for the Sparks, who improve to 2-0 on the season. The Storm, meanwhile, fall to 1-1.
